Congressman Phil Hare Endorses Governor Pat Quinn

Hare and Quinn to Meet Voters in Moline, Galesburg, Peoria and Springfield

CHICAGO – On an all-day, four-stop tour Monday, U.S. Representative Phil Hare (D-17) will bring his endorsement of Governor Pat Quinn to working men and women in Moline, Galesburg, Peoria and Springfield, giving residents an opportunity to talk to both elected leaders about jobs, rising college costs, veterans’ healthcare and other major issues concerning Illinois voters.

"Governor Quinn took office under extremely difficult circumstances and has shown a tremendous commitment to meeting the challenges of our state head-on," Hare said. "Whether it was putting people back to work through the capital construction bill, caring for our veterans, or restoring ethics and accountability to Illinois government, Governor Quinn has proven he is up to the task and deserving of another four years. The Illinois Congressional delegation finally has a partner in Springfield, instead of a punch line."

“I am honored by Congressman Hare’s endorsement,” Governor Quinn said. “I look forward to working with Congressman Hare to make sure Illinois can continue to keep its promises to students, veterans, and hard-working men and women who need new opportunities during these tough economic times.”

Governor Quinn has made job creation a top priority of his administration. He said he welcomes this opportunity to talk with workers at Illinois labor temples and union halls about his $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! public works plan, which is already putting people back to work throughout the state. Combined with the federal stimulus program, Illinois Jobs Now! is helping Illinois move toward economic recovery.

Hare joins fellow U.S. Representatives Jan Schakowsky and Mike Quigley in formally endorsing Governor Quinn. The Governor’s campaign also has been endorsed by UNITE HERE Local 1, SEIU Illinois Council, and Teamsters Joint Council 25.
