CHICAGO – Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine will join Governor Pat Quinn at the Illinois State Fair’s Governor’s Day on August 18th. Chairman Kaine will serve as keynote speaker at a rally where the Democratic ticket will share their plan for jobs and economic growth with voters from all across the state.
Governor Quinn and Chairman Kaine will be joined by Democratic leaders and the entire Democratic statewide ticket, including: Senator Dick Durbin, Senate candidate Alexi Giannoulias, Lieutenant Governor Nominee Sheila Simon, Attorney General Lisa Madigan, Secretary of State Jesse White, Representative David Miller, candidate for Comptroller, Robin Kelly, candidate for State Treasurer, Speaker Michael Madigan, and Senate President John Cullerton. State Representative John Bradley (D-117) will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
“Chairman Kaine felt it was important to be with Governor Quinn on this day,” said Mica Matsoff, campaign spokesperson. “As a former Governor himself and now chair of the DNC, Chairman Kaine wanted to use Governor’s Day to highlight Governor Quinn’s leadership and record of job creation across the state.”
Chairman Kaine became the 70th Governor of Virginia on January 14, 2006. As governor, Kaine led Virginia through the toughest economy since the 1930s. He was elected Chairman of the Democratic National Committee in January 2009, and continues to serve in this role, helping to promote the success of Democratic officeholders and candidates throughout America.
The rally begins at 12:00 pm, with the speakers program commencing at 1:00 pm. The rally is open to the public, and free with admission to the Illinois State Fair.
