Democratic Party of Evanston Endorses Governor Pat Quinn

EVANSTON – Adding to his long list of endorsements by progressive groups throughout Illinois, Governor Pat Quinn Tuesday announced his endorsement by the Democratic Party of Evanston.

"The Democratic Party of Evanston has a long history of providing crucial support to progressive candidates in successful campaigns for county, state, and federal office,” said Daniel Biss, president of the Democratic Party of Evanston. “We are proud to continue this tradition by endorsing Pat Quinn for Governor in the 2010 Democratic primary."

“I am honored by the endorsement of the Democratic Party of Evanston,” said Governor Quinn. “The Democratic voters of Evanston have a long, distinguished history of supporting candidates who share their progressive values, and I look forward to working with them to continue our fight for reform and honesty in Illinois government.”

The Democratic Party of Evanston gave Governor Quinn an overwhelming 70% in the final round of voting at its endorsement session Sunday at the Levy Senior Center.

DPOE has pledged to back up this endorsement with a vigorous field effort.  In 2008, DPOE sent literally thousands of volunteers to battleground states on behalf of Barack Obama's Presidential campaigns. In 2006, DPOE sent hundreds of volunteers to swing Congressional districts in the region.  This year, DPOE volunteers have made thousands of calls on behalf of President Obama's health insurance reform agenda.
