Campaign Releases List of More Than 300 Endorsements Statewide
CHICAGO – As Governor Pat Quinn rallied supporters in six cities Monday to get out the vote for tomorrow’s Democratic primary, Quinn for Illinois released a six-page list of endorsements from elected officials, newspapers, advocacy groups, labor unions and activists in every corner of Illinois.
“From the very beginning of this campaign, I have been greatly encouraged by the outpouring of support I have received from elected leaders, organized labor, activists and everyday people throughout the Land of Lincoln,” Governor Quinn said. “As we run toward the finish line, I know that our strong team of supporters will lead us to victory.”
Governor Quinn’s six-page list of endorsements includes:
· The Chicago Sun-Times, Crain’s Chicago Business, the Belleville News-Democrat, and a string of other publications with a combined readership of nearly 1 million;
· Eight U.S. congressmen,15 state senators, 25 state representatives, 18 county commissioners, more than 30 mayors and village presidents, and dozens of aldermen and village trustees from communities statewide;
· Twelve labor unions and locals representing more than 1.1 million hard-working Illinois men and women;
· Advocacy groups including Democracy for America, the American Muslim Taskforce on Civil Rights and Election, the Independent Voters of Illinois-Independent Precinct Organization, Planned Parenthood, Citizen Action and the Sierra Club Illinois Chapter, representing millions of committed activists statewide.
To rally his supporters statewide, Quinn Monday embarked on a whirlwind, six-city flyaround to get out the vote for the Feb. 2 primary. The day of rallies began in Chicago with a large group of elected officials and included stops in Rockford, Quad Cities, Peoria, Decatur and Marion.
