Information on Early Voting and Absentee Voting

FOR ABSENTEE VOTERS

REGISTRATION:

  • Absentee ballot applications are available by mail, in person, or online
    • Visit your County Clerk’s office or Board of Elections office,
    • Download form at www.chicagoelections.com, or
    • Call 1.312.269.7967 to get a form by mail
  • Return your absentee application either,
    • By mail: Accepted until January 28
    • In-person: Accepted until February 1

SEND IN YOUR VOTE:

  • Vote and send your ballot in by mail or in-person,
    • Return your ballot to the Board, by mail, postmarked on or before February 1, or
    • Vote in person at the Election Board office, open on January 30 up to day before election
  • Registered absentee voters CANNOT vote in the polling place on election day
    • Exceptions: If you (1) cancel your absentee ballot, (2) report you didn’t receive your absentee ballot, or (3) report your election authority never received your ballot

FOR EARLY VOTERS

EARLY VOTING

  • WHEN: In person, at an election authority office, or at an Early Voting Center from Monday, January 11, through Thursday, January 28. 2010.
  • WHERE: Voters can vote at any location, either at the Cook County Main Office at 69 W. Washington St, OR at a nearby polling place. Visit www.chicagoelections.com to find a polling place near you, one Early Voting Center per ward
  • Government photo ID required
  • Voters still allowed absentee voting, contact your election authority for more info
