New Trier Democratic Organization Endorses Governor Quinn

CHICAGO – The New Trier Democratic Organization has endorsed Governor Pat Quinn, underscoring his widespread support by progressive Democrats, the Governor’s campaign office announced Sunday.

In its endorsement session Sunday night, held at the Winnetka Community House, the New Trier Democratic Organization gave Governor Quinn an overwhelming majority, with 71% voting to endorse the Democratic incumbent. The organization is led by New Trier Township Committeeman Bill Crowley.

“I am honored by the endorsement of the New Trier Democratic Organization,” Governor Quinn said. “The New Trier Democrats have given solid support for my work to reform Illinois government over the past 10 months, and I look forward to working with them to make Illinois a stronger, greener, more prosperous state.”

The endorsement means that the New Trier organization will field hundreds of grassroots volunteers to ring doorbells, make phone calls, and send messages to bring supporters to the polls to vote for Governor Quinn in the Democratic primary election on Feb. 2, 2010.

The New Trier Democratic Organization is made up of voters from Wilmette, Kenilworth, Winnetka, Glencoe, Northfield and Glenview.

Governor Quinn has been endorsed by a number of groups throughout Illinois, including Cook County Democrats, Kane County Democrats, Naperville Democrats,  and the Sierra Club's Illinois Chapter.
