Quinn for Illinois

CHICAGO – Citing Governor Pat Quinn’s consistent record of standing up for the right of all Illinois women to make their own choices, Planned Parenthood Illinois Action Thursday announced its endorsement of Governor Quinn in the Democratic primary.

“Planned Parenthood Illinois Action is pleased to support Governor Quinn, who has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to women’s reproductive health issues,” said Steve Trombley, President and CEO of PPIA.  “We stand behind candidates who stand up for the women and families of Illinois.”

 “I am honored and encouraged by the endorsement of Planned Parenthood Illinois Action,” Governor Quinn said.  “As Governor, I am fully committed to supporting Illinois women’s access to all reproductive health services. As we go forward, I will continue to work closely with advocacy groups throughout our state to create policies and initiatives that respect the right of every woman in Illinois to make her own reproductive choices.”

Over the past week, Governor Quinn also was endorsed by the Illinois Chapter of the Sierra Club and Progressive Action Project, the state PAC of Citizen Action/Illinois, which cited his lifelong record of progressive leadership.

In announcing the endorsement, PPIA stated its commitment to electing public officials who will work to make sure that everyone in Illinois has access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health care, education and information.

PPIA engages in educational and electoral activity, including public education campaigns, grassroots organizing, and legislative advocacy, on behalf of commonsense policies that protect the reproductive health and rights of women, teens, and families.
