MATTESON – Praising his commitment to economic development in the Southland and every part of Illinois, U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Chicago) Friday announced his endorsement of Governor Pat Quinn.
In a 1:30 p.m. news conference held Friday at the Hampton Inn & Suites in south suburban Matteson, Congressman Jackson and Governor Quinn were joined by a number of south suburban mayors and other elected officials.
“I wholeheartedly endorse Governor Quinn for re-election,” Jackson said. "Governor Quinn has the compassion to put families first, the vision to put Illinoisans back to work, and the integrity to return honor to state government. Illinois finally has a governor it can be proud of. I look forward to working with Governor Quinn as we revitalize and rebuild our great state."
“Congressman Jackson has worked hard and effectively to rebuild the economy of his district, which is vital to the prosperity of our state,” Governor Quinn said. “His endorsement is very important to me. I know that, working together, we can make the Southland an economic hub for Illinois, and for the nation.”
Congressman Jackson commended Governor Quinn for his commitment to bring jobs, growth and opportunity to every community in Illinois – especially for his success in passing Illinois Jobs Now!, the state’s first comprehensive public works program in more than a decade. Illinois Jobs Now! will invest millions of dollars in clean energy projects that will help bring down utility costs for consumers and create thousands of new green jobs for Illinois workers in every community.
Jackson also underscored Governor Quinn’s vision of making Illinois an “inland port,” building 21st-century transportation network that will create jobs, expand tourism, and help to bring Illinois, its businesses, and its products to the world.
Congressman Jackson joins U.S. Representatives Jan Schakowsky, Phil Hare, Mike Quigley, Luis Gutierrez and Danny Davis in endorsing Governor Quinn.
