Some public officials talk the talk about health care, but Pat Quinn has shown he really can walk the walk!

Clinton noted that more jobs were created in the eight years of his presidency that in the 20 years that Republicans held the White House. They're the same ones that dug the hole from which we're climbing out. At this crucial time, we need to keep the party of jobs in the business of creating jobs.

The political and moral power of referendums is often dismissed by traditional politicians and pundits, but without the 1982-83 CUB referendums spearheaded by a young Pat Quinn, Illinois consumers might still be outgunned.

1975.   For a century, Illinois legislators received an unusual perk: they were paid their entire annual salary on the first day of work!  And if they died, resigned or - in the case of one particular State Senator- jailed, they still got to keep the cash!

Not only that, but many legislators were on two or even three public payrolls at once, another uniquely-Illinois institution known as “double-dipping”.  Good government groups and a few reform legislators sought to halt these taxpayer-gouging practices, but nothing ever happened.

Until Pat Quinn came along.

Today, Plum Island is returning to its natural state, the eagle population is flourishing and the Native American site has been undisturbed. Thanks to the power of grassroots organizing and one organizer who is now a Governor.

Now eight years old, the Illinois Military Family Relief Fund has distributed nearly $11 million to 19,000 Illinois families, inspired similar funds across the nation and given hope to many.  A genuine success story.
